Gerald was born on August 16, 1936, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to W. O. and Maxine Elizabeth Hunter. He served four years in the United States Army.
Gerald owned and operated his own business, Hunter Automotive, formally named Kar Tune, located in the Heights, Houston, Texas. Gerald’s favorite thing to do when not working was to go river rafting in the Big Bend River.
After retiring, he moved to Terlingua, TX, August 2005, where he could be close to Big Bend National Park. There, he had many friends that he was really close to and loved.
He is survived by his son Gerald Vance Hunter, Jr., three grandchildren, one great grandchild, his sister Rae Arlene Matthews, two stepbrothers, Kelley Stephen Hunter and Kim Norwood Hunter and a stepsister, Katherine Ann Hunter Burkholder. He is preceded in death by his parents, W. O. and Maxine Hunter and two of his sisters, Betty Jean Hunter Windham and Margaret Ann Hunter Willardson.
