George was born on June 28, 1948. He graduated from El Paso High in 1968. He enlisted in the Navy, serving two years as a Seabee including one year in Vietnam. When he returned from Vietnam, he was honorably discharged, then served 5 years in the Naval Reserve. George began a 35 year career with American Airlines, also serving as a union officer. He was proud of his attendance record while working there. George was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament parish for 47 years. Throughout his life he was a great hunter and fisherman. George had a deep love for camping, Mariachi music, Dallas Cowboys, college football, boxing, family gatherings and sharing stories. We will miss his sense of humor, laughter, and his thoughts on a wide variety of topics.
George was preceded in death by his parents Juan and Angela Vasquez. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Myrna M. Ballinas Vasquez; four children: Myrna Horan, Monica Torres, Jorge Vasquez and Laura Gutierrez; 10 grandchildren: Mark Torres, Steve Micklo, Nikole Torres, Jennifer Torres, Isabelle Gutierrez, Andrew Gutierrez, Rebekah Gutierrez, Sophia Gutierrez, Claire Gutierrez, Catalina Gutierrez, and 4 great grandchildren: Kurtis Micklo, Mark Parra, Josiah Micklo and Adylina Micklo, and his siblings Irma Villescas, Raul Vasquez, Armando Vasquez, Luis Vasquez, and Sylvia Trancoso.
George will be missed greatly by his loving family.

Visitation Wednesday July 14, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Vigil service at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Martin Central, 3839 Montana Avenue, El Paso, Texas 79903. Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9025 Diana Drive, Thursday, July 15, at 9:30 AM followed by Committal at 11:00 AM at Ft Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Drive, El Paso, Texas.
