Genaro “Papa Jerry” Villanueva, 74, went to be with the Lord January 3, 2017. Genaro was born in El Paso, TX March 3rd, 1942. He married the love of his life Irene in 1971. They were married for 45 years. In 1965, he was drafted into the United States Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. In 1968, he found his dream job with the El Paso Fire Department. He served the citizens of El Paso for 34 years and retired as a Fire Suppression Technician on Pumper 24. Shortly after retirement he joined his wife at Mt. Hope Pre-School where he was the handyman for the school and Church. He enjoyed morning coffee with his wife, working on cars, and spending time with his grandchildren. Papa Jerry lived for his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his loving wife Irene Villanueva sons; Charles Villanueva and Jerry Villanueva (Laura), grandchildren; Genaro and Isabella Villanueva, brother; Manuel Villanueva (Vicky) and sister Stella Bautista (Manuel). Visitation will be Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 5-9pm with vigil at 6pm at the funeral home. Mass will be Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Noon at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini located at 12200 Vista Del Sol with interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 1:30pm.
