With family surrounding her, our 91-year-old loving mother went to be with the Lord on August 11, 2022. Flavia Zuniga (San Miguel) was born May 7, 1931 to Juan San Miguel and Petra Vallejo in Brenham, Texas (Washington County).
She married Antonio Charles Zuniga in August of 1950 and together they had ten children. Flavia is survived by her children Maria Elena Plum, Graciela Zuniga, Dalia Zuniga-Lettieri, Martha Zuniga, Edward Zuniga, Lucia Zuniga, and Gilbert Zuniga. She is preceded in death by her husband Antonio, and sons Amador, Antonio and Carlos. Flavia had eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Flavia was an active member of the military community at Ft. Bliss, having twice received the Commander's Award for Civilian Service for her outstanding support of the William Beaumont Medical Center. Her volunteerism contributed to the enhanced quality of life for the soldiers and their family members. She was a devoted military wife.
Flavia was a designer of beautiful jewelry and artful pieces. She loved being in her yard, watering, and being one with nature. She took great joy in watching the beautiful flowers grow.
In her later years, she ran a successful business in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She was a matriarch to many and devoted to her children and family in Texas, Massachusetts, Colorado, California, Georgia and Mexico.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N. Resler Dr. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 12:45 p.m. at Most Holy Trinity Church, 10000 Pheasant Rd. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
