Heaven gained an angel on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, when Ellen Patricia Corrica peacefully departed this life at her home in Greensboro, North Carolina. Ellen was the fourth of nine children born to the late Thomas and Doris Lee Pleasant on September 12, 1955 in Covington, Virginia. She graduated from Clovis High School in Clovis, New Mexico. Later, Ellen joined the United States Army, where she faithfully served her country in Texas, Hawaii and Korea as a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Supply Logistics Specialist.
After completing her military service, Ellen moved to Jersey City, New Jersey where she served her country once again as a mail processor for the United States Postal Service. After years of public service, Ellen relocated to her childhood home of Clovis, New Mexico. There she pursued higher education at Eastern New Mexico University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in human resource management. Eventually, Ellen and her wife Patricia (Pat) would decide to settle in Greensboro, North Carolina and make it their forever home. Ellen once again sought out higher education at Emmaus Institute to obtain her theology certification and later became an ordained Christian minister.
Ellen had the uncanny ability to melt your heart with the abundance of love and kindness God bestowed upon her to give to others. She welcomed and loved everyone in her presence. She was an adored person who always made herself available to listen and give sound advice whenever needed. Ellen will always be remembered for the love she had for her family, friends, and the Dallas Cowboys.
Left to cherish her memory is her wife, Patricia Corrica; two natural children Lawrence Bowens (Maxine) and Corrica Wrenfro; four children from God, Rhudel Christopher (Nicole), Ronald Todman, James Garvin (Gina) and Jerime Garvin (Erica); six sisters and two brothers Marvis Desers (Ronald), Tracy Lopez (Sergio), Elizabeth Davis (Twin), Doretha Waites, Connie Sanders, Francine Pleasant, Venoil Joseph, William Pleasant; two sisters-in-law Sandra Singletary and Nannie Baisden; and three sisters from God, Sally Washington (Gloria), Irene Fanelli, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and Godchildren.
