Elizabeth Oaxaca Mendoza

Elizabeth Oaxaca Mendoza went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2024 in El Paso, Texas at the age of 94. Born in Madrid, New Mexico to Baltazar Oaxaca and Taurina Oaxaca de Chavira on April 29, 1930. She spent her childhood and teenage years in Mexico before moving with her husband to El Paso, Texas where she spent the rest of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Joel Oaxaca, Edith Uribe, Olga Azucena Flores, Eunice Granados and recently, Aroldo Cesar Reyes.
Elizabeth is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Leopoldo E. Mendoza; daughters Evelyn Gallegos and husband Gilberto A. Gallegos, Linda Ruiz and husband Jesus Armando Ruiz, Ana Guerrero and husband Adalberto Guerrero, son Leopoldo E. Mendoza, Jr. and wife Olpa Mendoza, and Carolina Mireles and husband Alfredo Mireles; and brother Roberto Reyes and wife Estela Reyes Also survived by her beloved grandchildren Josue Gallegos and wife Jessica Gallegos, Isaac Gallegos and wife Adriana Gallegos, Rebecca Holmes and husband Robbyn Holmes, Vianey Sanchez and husband Christopher Sanchez, Armando Ruiz, Lauren Rosanvallon and husband Remi Rosanvallon, and Jakob, Caleb, and Leah Mendoza. Also survived by her great grandchildren Ezra, Benjamin and Lucas Gallegos, Santiago and Sebastian Sanchez, and Luna, Orion, Titan and Nova Holmes.
Elizabeth touched many lives. Not only did she love her family and grandchildren but also all who came to visit her home. One of her love languages was being a gracious and welcoming host always ready with delicious food. She was a poet whose inspirations were nature, family and God. Elizabeth was a faithful supporter of her husband Leopoldo in all areas of life. Truly a Proverbs 31 virtuous woman.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Scottsdale Baptist Church, 10015 Lockerbie Avenue from 5-7 pm and a worship service from 7-9 pm. A chapel service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Drive at 11 am. Interment to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
