Elena was born to Elizario & Consuelo Parra, the eldest of 4 children. She graduated from Bowie High School, Class of 1958 - a true Bowie Bear. She worked at UETA for at least 30 years and had a passion for her job but was forced to take a break from working in 2020 due to Covid and officially retired at the age of 82 years old.
Elena was preceded in death by her husband, Rodolfo Melendez, her parents Elizario & Consuelo Parra and her 2 brothers, Carlos and Jose Parra.
She is survived by her brother Raymundo Parra and his wife Juana. She is also survived by her 4 daughters Norma Duran, Amy Melendez, Tina Gomez, Gracie Nuñez and her Son, Rudy Melendez and 2 son in laws - Ricardo "Bear" Duran and Michael Nunez; 8 Grandchildren: Ricky, Adriann, Abel, Angel, Melody, Valerie, Mikey, Nikole & 6 Great Grandchildren.
Elena was a Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter & Sister - loved by many & will be greatly missed by her family, friends & all who knew her.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 4:00PM to 9:00PM with Rosary Prayer at 7:00PM at Funeraria Del Angel Central 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79903. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 9:30 AM at San Antonio De Padua Church, 503 Hunter Dr, El Paso, TX 79915 and to follow with graveside service at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery tentatively at 11:00 AM.
