Edward D. Hazelton, 71, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018. He was born in El Paso, Texas on December 24, 1946 to Robert L. Hazelton and Jean Dawson Hazelton. He served in the United States Army and fought in Vietnam where he earned the Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal, and a Purple Heart.
Ed and Dan Touchette founded E&D Services Inc. in October 1974, a local pickup and delivery service. In February of 1979 they formed Twin Cities Services, a freight forwarding company specializing in the movement of ocean freight cargo in and out of Mexico. After Dan’s passing in 2011, the company expanded and moved its facility to Santa Teresa NM. New Mexico Governor, Susana Martinez, attended the ribbon cutting ceremony in 2013. Ed’s success was due to his hard work and belief in doing the best for his customers.
Ed was dedicated to his family-especially spending time with his grandson. He was an avid bowler. As a car enthusiast, he and his son enjoyed showing their custom cars at regional shows. He especially loved Christmas and decorating the outside of his home with unique animated displays and lights. He used his creative and artistic talents every major holiday when he took charge of setting the table for our family gatherings.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pat Hazelton, son Jason Hazelton (Becky), grandson, Elijah Lee Hazelton and brother-in-law, David Richard Orozco of San Diego, CA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 6-9pm at Martin Funeral Home East, 1460 George Dieter Drive, El Paso, TX. 79936. Committal service will be held at 9:30am at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery on Thursday, August 30, 2018.
