Donna Marie Gibson age 68 went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving husband Lloyd and daughter Hollie after a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 21, 1953 in Oklahoma City, OK to David W. Hoyle and Billie Whitis Hoyle, she moved to El Paso, TX as a child and attended elementary and high school there.
Donna loved playing tennis, singing in school and church choirs but most of all she loved the Lord and people. She was a national junior honor society member and lettered in varsity team tennis at Irvin High School. Most of her adult life was spent in Phoenix, AZ. There she raised her much loved daughter Hollie. She taught classes, sang in church choirs both as a teen and an adult and worked as a legal assistant. She was a faithful member of Desert Breeze Community Church and participated in teaching youth and ministry to women. Very creative, she especially enjoyed art classes, painting and being with her daughter. Many examples of her paintings and flower pots remain. Donna was an avid lover of pugs and all dogs. She easily connected with and loved the people around her in whatever she was doing. After meeting a former class mate at a high school reunion she married Lloyd Gibson and moved back to El Paso. She enjoyed making beautiful jewelry alongside of her husband and attending Mountain View Baptist Church where she first met the Lord as a child. Some of her greatest attributes were her kindness, interest in others and readiness to be a loyal friend.
We will miss her loving nature, sweet smile and determination but rejoice that she is with our Lord free from pain and illness.
Donna is survived by her husband Lloyd Gibson who faithfully cared for her throughout the course of her illness, beloved daughter Hollie Medina (spouse Moses), grandson Vincent Medina (spouse Celeste), granddaughter Gabrielle Medina and two great grandsons Jackson and Alphonse as well as two sisters Bonnie Martin (spouse Jim) and Patricia Ginn (spouse Christopher) and many nieces and nephews.
Special appreciation is offered to Dr. Gomez for his ongoing care and to Envision Hospice for their end of life care.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
