Mrs. Carmen R. Martinez, “Doña Carmen” passed away peacefully in her home on November 2, 2015, she was 95. She was a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas. Carmen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Carmen was employed by Popular Dry Goods Dept. and sold cosmetics for 15 years. She began and completed her second career, and graduated from Graduate Realtors Institute of Texas. She became a prominent real estate agent/broker and ran her company CRM Realty for 33 years. After 49 years of marriage, Mrs. Martinez lost her loving husband and she met life’s challenges. She took a new challenge and started her own company called “Doña Carmen Homes Inc.” and developed a new subdivision, Mission Pass. Her dream was to continue to build homes which she continued to do for 15 years. She was respectfully known in the community as Doña Carmen. She was a member of Women’s Council of Realtors, El Paso Realtors Association, nominated for YWCA’s Reach Award, involved with the El Paso Commission for Women, the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, The Council of Brokers and Agents, and an active member of St. Pius Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Gilberto Martinez, mother Ramona Gonzalez Rodriguez, son Gilbert Martinez and grandson Jonathan Martinez. Survived by her sons; Jimmy (Connie), David and Raymond (Janet): 7 grandchildren; Jimmy Jr., Larissa, Joseph, Jason, Randy, Kristopher, Kreg and 7 great grandchildren. Doña Carmen set a remarkable example for all. She was a strong-willed woman who met challenges head on and became successful in her career. Her contributions and legacy will live on in the El Paso Community. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2015 from 4:00-8:00pm at F.D.A. Martin East, with vigil at 5:00pm. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at11:00am at St. Mark Catholic Church with interment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Mrs. Martinez’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank all the wonderful people who cared for her. A heartfelt thank you to Lupe, Alma, Fabiola, Elva, Ruth, Sarah, Petra, Viola, Alfred and Vera.
