Today we honor the life of a very special lady, our grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, friend and dear sister in Christ, Carmen Arellano Gutierrez. Her heart of gold and witty personality and loving demeanor, sure made her a gem of a human being, If she was even human, because we can truly ask, were we entertaining an angel here on earth?
I think for many of her sons and daughters, she was their best friend, their confidant, their shoulder to cry on, their partner in crime, for us as grandchildren, she was the best cook and funny grandma with those soft hands and a sure joke or dance to share. A eulogy is too formal of a piece to try and write or explain who this AMAZING human being was, we couldn’t possibly do her justice in a short amount of time. However, grandma, Mom how you lived for your kids and family, how you dedicated your life to serve others and to always make sure we had what we needed, especially love, that for sure we always had
She sacrificed more than we will ever know. And even when she was putting everyone else before herself, she still made time to listen to her children and to help them with their problems or slip-ups. Everyone who was fortunate enough to know her was always in awe of her strength and the joy she exuded. If grandma was ever in pain, or anxious, or frustrated, or sad, she made it a point to let someone know in private, she wasn’t a fan of making people feel sorry for her. She was a tough cookie!
To say that she will be missed is an understatement. She is beloved by many and will be terribly missed. But her LEGACY OF LOVE AND FAMILY will live forever. Grandma was also a devote Catholic in her early years, a woman of Faith, and later when she got baptized and became a Christian, it was only an extension of who she had already been for so long. She loved God, and you could always find her praying or with her little hands raised whispering a prayer, and you can bet it was her lifting up either her sons or daughters, or a grandchild or friend, even a foe. That was the beautiful heart of little grandma Carmen…Mom.
Today will be one of the hardest things we will ever have to do as a family. Saying goodbye to her earthly shell, which is what we knew here on earth. Today, only God will help us endure. But one thing is for sure, we have a blessed HOPE, this is not the end. One day soon. We will see her again, and she will be her vibrant, joyful, happy, dancing, self! With no pain, no limitations, and no sorrow or moments of heartache to remember of
Thank you, grandma, MOM for teaching us compassion, unconditional love, how to forgive, how not to give up, how to have fun, and not take yourself so seriously. How to learn to laugh and joke around, to live life, to get up and dance! Thank you, Mom, for always covering us in prayer, a priceless gift we will always remember, and for feeding us the best food ever! Your LEGACY lives on in every single one of us, and we will make it our lives purpose to not let it finish with you. We promise Mom, grandma you will still live, because you live in us. Love you forever grandma, MOM..
