Bertha Bonilla Elenez, age 94, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, October 9, 2022. Bertha was born August 14, 1928 to the late Octavio Bonilla and Dolores Favela Bonilla. Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, she attended Guardian Angel Elementary and El Paso Tech. She worked many years as a bookkeeper which included her husband's company E&L Drywall Co., Yamaha of El Paso & Farmer's Dairy. She often spoke of her first job being Price's Dairy on Piedras.
Bertha did retire from El Paso Community College as a payroll clerk after 25 years of service. She was an avid bowler, bingo player and loved those slot machines.
Bertha was preceded in death by her loving husband Candido Elenez, children Bonnie, Sylvia and Lawrence, and her loving dog Amber. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Oscar and Freddie, sisters Ophelia Bonilla Lopez and Kathy, and Aunt Sophia.
She is survived by children Candido Jr. "Candy", Emiliano "Buddy", Priscilla "Prissy", and Jerome, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, as well as many beloved nephews and nieces.
Visitation for Bertha will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with Rosary Vigil at 7:00PM, at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue, El Paso, Texas 79903. Funeral mass will be Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 12:00 PM at St Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 N Clark Dr, El Paso, Texas 79905. Committal service will follow at 1:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue, Fort Bliss, Texas 79906.
Pallbearers: Candido Elenez, Buddy Elenez, Jerome Elenez, Joseph Elenez, Anthony B. Lopez, Charles Fornelli, Sonny Bonilla, David Salas Honorary Pallbearers: Mark Romero and Michael Friesenhan.
