Born June 23, 1937 in Farmersville, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Tipps and Esther (Tipps) Jones. Barbara graduated from Ysleta High School in El Paso, Texas and earned her Bachelor of Science and Masters degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. One of her greatest joys in life was teaching at El Paso Community College and U.T.E.P. She was an active member in her church through the years, teaching Sunday School and involved in Women’s Ministry. Through all of her many achievements, she was most proud of her family.
She is survived by her son, Timothy Wayne Thompson and wife Melissa Thompson of El Paso, Texas and her daughter, Janel Maccarrone and husband Thomas Maccarrone of Denver, CO; four grandsons, Trent Thompson (Jan-Nell Fleury), Seth Thompson, Nicholas Maccarrone
(Christina Maccarrone) and Jared Maccarrone (Bri Maccarrone) along with eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation is March 29, from 1-5 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina Drive, El Paso, Texas. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 30 at 9 a.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church, 4959 Hondo Pass, El Paso, Texas.
