A lifelong resident of El Paso, he served in the US Army and later retired from Sun Metro. He was smart, funny, and generous but above all else, Arturo was a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who dedicated all of his time and energy to protecting and loving his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Bonifacio and Celia Mendez. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cecilia Mendez, daughters Christy Garibay(Victor), Cindy Mendez, Kathy Hernandez, and Regina Mendez, 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, brothers Federico Mendez, Javier Mendez, and sisters Juanita Mendez and Cecilia Gomez.
A visitation for Arturo will be held Monday, February 6, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM (rosary at 6) at Crestview Funeral Home, 1462 North Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79936. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church followed by a graveside service at 1:00 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Andrew Mendez, Michael Espinoza, Daniel Monroe, Victor Garibay, Rudy Camacho, Jr., and Stephen Mendez.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
