Arnold L. McClatchey (Arnie) was born June 14, 1942 in Vancouver, Washington and was raised in Camus , Washington. He served in the military (Army) from 1962 thru 1965 where he had a daily radio program in Nuremberg, Germany. After leaving the Army he moved to Southern California where he worked as a Disc jockey at various radio stations including KWIZ and KEZY in Southern California. . He had a daily program and was program director at KEZY from 1967 until 1975. He started in Christian radio in 1975 when he took KYMS in Santa Ana and turned a rock station into one of the first contemporary Christian stations in the nation. He went on to duplicate the same format in Colorado and Arizona before purchasing KELP in El Paso, Texas in 1984. He moved to El Paso in 1992 until the Lord called him home on June 20, 2018.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pam, several nieces, nephews, sister-in-law’s, brother-in-law’s, cousins, friends and co-workers.
He was a kind, loving, and gentle, man who loved and served the Lord for many years and will be missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5054 Doniphan Dr. El Paso, Texas, and Monday June 25 from 5:00-8:00 PM
Memorial service will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Chapel in Santa Ana, California on Friday July 6 at 2:30 PM. Reception immediately following service.
