Anthony Thomas Stopyra went to be with the Lord on October 18, 2022 at home with his significant other Rose and his grandson Jaylen by his side. He was born on November 11, 1951 in Philadelphia to Stanley and Frances (Rondamanski) Stopyra. He retired from the US Army in 1994 after having served our country for 23 years and shortly thereafter went to work for the El Paso County Sheriffs office and then DEA where he also retired from. He loved going to casinos with Rose, playing the lottery, eating ice cream and cooking. He loved spoiling his cat Topaz and his dog Ginger who are both rescues with special treats and cuddles and taking the dog on walks. Anthony and Rose loved to travel and often took their grandkids with them. He loved playing games with his grandkids and act silly with them and loved family gatherings. Tony is survived by his significant other, Rose Smith, his kids, SueAnn Denson and husband James, KristalAnn Smith, Glen Smith Jr and wife Stephanie, Shannon Smith and Loyd, Gregory Stopyra and wife Sunhee and Michael Stopyra. He is also survived by his grandkids, Adrian Denson, Penelope Denson, Jaylen Gardner, Rebekah Smith, Naomi McSwain (whom he was very close with), Joshua McSwain, Jacob Ferrell, Romeo Smith, Audrina Smith, Rachel Sosa, and Christina Stopyra and a great-grandson Sammael Sosa and his brother Bernie Heck. He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Frances (Rondomanski) Stopyra, brother Bill Stopyra and his cat Static.
Viewing will be at Funeraria Del Angel at 8817 Dyer St El Paso, Texas on November 1, 2022 from 4-7 pm with memorial service at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers Rose is requesting that donations be made in honor of Anthony to the Humane Society of El Paso, Texas.
