Ana M. Gandara, age 102, of El Paso, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022. Ana was born July 26, 1919 (Chihuahuita) in El Paso, Texas, to Petra Rios Martinez and Jesus Martinez. She was the third of nine children. Her parents and grandparents moved family to Delta, Colorado in 1920 where she attended school up to the 6th grade in Delta, Colorado. Ana stayed with her grandparents Feliciano Rios and Juana Santana Rios.
When Ana's paternal grandmother Andrea Grajeda passed away in 1930 in Ft. Hancock, they returned to El Paso. The family then moved to Chihuahua and returned to Juarez in 1941.
Ana met Jose Gandara and married April 13, 1949. She had worked at Woolworth 5&10 and several factories and drapery shop. She was active in the church community San Antonio Church and Santa Lucia Church. In 2006 at the age of 87 Ana earned her GED at YCLC. In her spare time she made formals, men's jackets and children's clothes. She loved crafts and crocheting. Ana lived life to the fullest until December 2021.
Ana is survived by her daughter Frances M. Lindsey (Stan Lindsey†); her daughter Esther M. Gandara; and her daughter Juanita Sierra; her sister Paula Borrego; her grandson Peter J. Lindsey (Carole), her grandson Jeffery F. Lindsey (Christine), her granddaughter Veronica A. Sierra, her granddaughter Amanda M. Sierra, her great grandson Steven J. Lindsey and her great grandson Matthew A. Lindsey.
Ana was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jose C. Gandara; her sisters Maria Acosta, Dorotea Arzaga, Jesusita Gallardo and Basillia Flores and her brothers Gregorio Martinez, Eluterio Martinez and Patricio Martinez.
Visitation for Ana will be held Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Vigil service at 6:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue, El Paso, Texas 79903. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 8011 Williamette Avenue, El Paso, Texas 79907. Committal service to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 8800 Dyer St., El Paso, Texas 79924.
