Amada E Cortez

Our loving Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Ms. Amada Estela Cortez has joined our heavenly Father on Saturday, November 16, 2024. “Stela”, as she was fondly known, was born in El Paso, Texas on June 2, 1939. She attended San Jacinto Elementary and Bowie High School.

Stela is survived by her husband Jorge, “George”, Cortez, whom were married for 62 years. She is also survived by her two daughters, Celia Haynes and Graciela Cortez, her son in-law Kenneth Haynes, her five grandchildren, Vanessa Haynes, Ken Haynes, Mario Rodriguez, Shannon “Georgie” Cortez, and Anthony Hunter, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Stela was a creative individual, who spent her time painting beautiful sceneries and ceramic sculptures. She also enjoyed cooking for her family. Stela had a love for baking and decorating cakes for weddings and special occasions. She was a member of the Roger Beacon Catholic Church and volunteered at events such as the Annual St. Anthony’s Bazar.

A visitation for Amada will be held Monday, November 25, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX 79915. A rosary will occur Monday, November 25, 2024 at 6:00 PM, 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX 79915. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Santo Nino De Atocha Church, 210 S Clark Dr, El Paso, TX 79905. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Evergreen East & Evergreen Cemetery East, 12400 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79938.
