On Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the age of 88, Our beloved mother, sister, daughter, nina, servant, and mentor went home to her eternal resting place where she was received by her Almighty and loving Father and her Lord and Savior, Jesus. She was born in Torreon, Coahuila on May 12,1934. Alicia is survived by her six children: Raymond Zambrano (Rachel), Anthony Zambrano (Brigida Iacono Zambrano), Maria Teresa Hernandez (Victor), Michael Zambrano (Alisha), Anna Zambrano and Rebecca Morales. Alicia is also survived by her brothers Juan Ogaz, Armando Ogaz and Antonio Ogaz, her dearest cousins Marta Leyva and Guadalupe Huerta. Alicia has many grandchildren: Megan, Sharon, Raymond Jr., Emilia, David, Christina, April, Jackie, Mary Ann, Mikey, Samantha, Anita, and Ernie Jr. She is preceded in death by her parents Ignacio and Josefina Ogaz, her brother Gerardo Ogaz, and her granddaughter Christin Marie Zambrano.
As a child Alicia’s fondest memories were those spent with her cousins Martita and Lupita. She later emigrated to El Paso with her mother and brother, and attended Sacred Heart Elementary through 8th grade and later graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy as Valedictorian. She worked at Farah Manufacturing as an accounts payable clerk for 30 years, and later retired from EPISD as the lunch clerk for Douglass Elementary.
In retirement Alicia continued to serve by being a spiritual care minister at Sierra Medical Hospital where she visited, administered communion, and prayed for patients. She remained actively involved at her home church St. Pius X as a lifelong member in various ministries; including Project Gabriel under the House of Hope Crisis Pregnancy Center (now known as Guiding Star). She also assisted the sisters of San Juan by frequently donating provisions to help feed the homeless.
She was a woman of grace and reflected her savior’s example to everyone she knew. She will be dearly missed by all of us, and we rejoice and thank our Heavenly Father for the gift of our beautiful mother and friend. We invite everyone who knew her to continue her legacy of service to one another and our community.
