She retired after 50 years of service from Simmons Bank as Vice President of Financial Services. Wanda was a graduate of Southern State College and was a life time member of the First Baptist Church of Norphlet.
Wanda loved the outdoors, and enjoyed many fun years with her vacation/fishing buddies. She loved to get in a hot bream hole at Millwood Lake or Felsenthal and “wear them out”. Grand Betty, as she was affectionately known, followed her grandkids to their ballgames and dance recitals and enjoyed getting to share their experiences with them and their friends. In later years, she enjoyed sitting on her front porch and visiting with her neighbors. She especially liked reminding her grandkids that she had earned the right to sit on that porch.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Elvin R. “Cotton” Jones; son, Glen R. Jones (Rhonda) grandchildren, Reese Jones, and Quimby Jones; and brother, Danny Gayle Washington (Charlotte) all of El Dorado.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2017, at Young’s.
