Roy Lee McAdams Sr., age 81, of El Dorado, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. Born on July 23, 1941, in El Dorado, AR; he was the son of Leroy and Hester Temple McAdams.
Roy was a proud husband, father and Poppa to his family. He was honored to serve in the United States Army Reserve and for 8 years as Alderman for the City of El Dorado. He worked 38 years for Lion Oil and after retirement he continued helping with Mac’s Tree Service, a third-generation, family business. He was an active member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, on numerous building committees, and supported many mission trips. He loved a great game of Dominos and relaxing at his White Oak Lake house or at Lake DeGray. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his wife of 58 years Mary Bowlin McAdams; sons Roy Lee "Buddy" McAdams, Jr. (Debbie) of El Dorado and John Thomas McAdams of Springdale, AR; a daughter Laura Nix (John) of Texarkana, AR; his sisters Mary Lou Bland (Ray) of El Dorado and Susie Cupp (Howard) of Junction City, LA. Along with Grandchildren Jordan Longnecker (Hunter), Montana Knight (Caleb), Riley McAdams and fiancé (Gage McClinton), Austin Nix (Baylee), Seth, Caleb, Allison, and Samuel McAdams. Great grandchildren Mary Leighton and Emma Anne Longnecker and Harper Jane Knight and his special companion "Champ".
The family will receive friends Monday, January 2, 2023, from 10 am until 11 am at the First Baptist Church El Dorado. Funeral service will be at 11 am with Dr. Jonathan Kelley, Rev. Brian Trostle and Rev. Dusten Melear. Private interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park by Youngs Funeral Directors.
