Morris was a pipefitter/welder out of Local Union 706 for 40 years, and a member of College Avenue Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, and after retirement cat fishing and camping at Lake Chicot. He loved to tell about his days in the Navy aboard the USS New Orleans in WWII and different jobs he worked on and the people he worked with. He became a Christian after the war and was faithful at the Norphlet Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder and then attended College Avenue Church of Christ for the last 25 years of his life.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife of 64 years, Helen White; daughter, Joan Christine White and granddaughter, Stephanie White; two brothers, Bill and Doris White; and one sister, Margie Evans.
Survivors include two sons, Allen White and his wife Gay of El Dorado, Charlie White and his wife Becca of Norphlet; brothers, Frank White and his wife Treba, Bonny White and his wife Barbara of El Dorado, Joe White of El Dorado AR; sisters, Dorothy Wood and her husband Woody of Luling, LA and Joyce Amis and her husband Harvey of El Dorado; grandchildren, Leanne White Harrell and her husband Brandon, Matthew White, Paul White of El Dorado, Amanda White of Little Rock and Jon White of Norphlet; and great grandchildren, Lyndsey and Landrey Harrell and Ashley and Brennen White and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2015, at College Avenue Church of Christ. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Church. Burial will follow with military honors at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
