He was born in Union County, Horace was the son of Pierce and Jessie Mae Moore. At an early age he was baptized in the Salem Community and became a member of Salem Baptist Church and joined Our Savior Lutheran Church later in life. He later joined and became a member of Mt. Willie Baptist Church, where he was currently a member. Horace was married to Theresa Phillips Moore for 68 years. He served in the Army during World War II. Horace retired from Monsanto Chemical Company after 43 years. His past times were spent in his love for hunting, fishing, raising cows, gardening, dinner time with the grandkids, and world travel. Horace was also a farmer and member of the Arkansas Cattleman's Association.
Horace was preceded in death by his parents, his son Carl Moore, his brothers Nilon Moore, James Moore, and Wade Moore, and his sister Velma Robinson.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years Theresa and his son Horace Jr. (Marsha) both of El Dorado; sisters Emma Boone of El Dorado, Betty Hogan (Dempsy) of Lorain, OH, and Mildred Jacobs of El Dorado; his brother Joe L. Moore of Kileen, TX; his grandchildren Malcolm Moore, Janie Scott and Danielle Moore; and his great grandchildren Simone Moore, Michael Moore, Jocelyn Scott, and Aleisha Steward; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations regarding public gatherings there will be no public visitation or services at this time. A private family graveside at Mt. Willie Cemetery with Rev. Billy Miller officiating will be held.
