Gregory Alan Amspaugh USMC Ret. of El Dorado; died on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Ouachita County Medical Center. Born on June 13, 1947 in Lima, Ohio; he was the son of Maurice Russell Amspaugh and Mary Helen Roney Amspaugh.
Greg retired in 1989 as a Gunnery Sergeant from the Marine Corp after a 25 year career, during which he served in Vietnam receiving a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 Republic Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citations. He was also awarded the National Defense Medal, 6 Good Conduct Medals, Meritorious Mast, 2 Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, a Navy Achievement Medal and Navy Commendation Medal. Greg then began a career as a truck driver for Triad and later Martin Trucking. Greg was a member of Camden Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the VFW. He enjoyed fishing and later woodworking. Greg was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his wife Diana Stout Amspaugh; sons Scott (Libbi) and Randy (Amanda) Amspaugh; a sister Linda Amspaugh of Pine Bluff; brothers Jim Amspaugh (Pat) of Yukon, OK, John Amspaugh (Elaine) of Katy, TX, Steven Amspaugh (Jean) of El Dorado; grandchildren Kris, Torri, Craig and Matthew and great grandchildren Cadence and Asher along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 pm to 6 pm, Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Young's Funeral Directors. Graveside services with Military Honors will be at 11 am, Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Sterling Claypoole officiating.
