Carol was born on July 12, 1944 in El Dorado and graduated from EHS in 1962. She attended Vanderbilt University and graduated college from Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma. She received a Masters of Information Science from the University of Houston at Clear Lake, Texas. Professionally she worked for various Aerospace Industries including Bell Laboratories on a design team for the Apollo trajectory program and Ford Aerospace designing Space Shuttle training modules. In addition, she worked as a Bank Teller, Golf Pro Shop Assistant, Website Developer, and Computer Programmer for the oil and gas industries.
She was at one time an avid golfer and very active in the Comal Master Gardeners. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Everette Eugene (Doc) Cofer and Frances Harris Cofer (longtime residents of El Dorado). Grandparents were Reverend C. B. and Mary Harris (also longtime residents of El Dorado) and Dr. John M. and Bertie Cofer.
She is survived by her two children Robert Scott McWilliams, PhD of Dallas, TX, and Tracy Lynn McWilliams Smith as well as a son-in-law, Steven A. Smith of San Marcos, TX. She is also survived by her sister, Lynn Cofer Thomas MD of Little Rock, AR, a nephew Matt Thomas and wife Holly and family of El Dorado, AR.
A Celebration of Life will take place Sunday, March 20th, at the River Chase Subdivision Clubhouse from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
