Bobby Elliott Williams, 81, of El Dorado, died Sunday, October 9, 2022, at Life Touch Hospice. He was born August 31, 1941, in El Dorado, Arkansas, the son of Thomas Elliott Williams and Dessie Lee Anderson Williams. He was the owner of Williams Grocery and Sportsman’s One Stop until his retirement in 2003.
After graduating from El Dorado High School in 1960, Bobby joined the United States Army Reserve. Upon completing his basic training, he attended Louisiana Tech University, and in 1963, he married Jean Murphy, his high school sweetheart.
Bobby was an active member of First Baptist Church and the Men’s Chapel Class. He served as a deacon, teacher, and choir member. He was also an active volunteer with the CARTI Chemo Angels.
Bobby was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed playing golf and camping until his health declined. He made fishing lures and was especially well known for his spinner baits. He was a skilled woodcarver whose carved ornaments are treasured by many each Christmas. He was also known for sharing his handmade wooden crosses.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Tommy Williams and his wife Betty Williams of El Dorado, and brother-in-law Joe Redmond of Clarksdale, Mississippi.
He is survived by his wife Jean, his daughter Pam Vernon and her husband Trey of El Dorado, his daughter Joanna McClure and her husband Jeff of Oxford, Mississippi, granddaughter Kate Vernon of Benbrook, Texas, grandson, Will McClure of Oxford, Mississippi, his sister-in-law Joyce Redmond of Clarksdale, Mississippi, and nieces Karen Harrell of Norphlet and Missy Bischoff and her husband Thomas of Spanish Fort, Alabama.
The family wishes to thank all of the staff of Life Touch Hospice, especially Haden, Vanessa, Shirley, and Reverend Luther for their loving care and concern during the past two years.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at First Baptist Church, 200 West Main Street, El Dorado, Arkansas, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home with Reverend Jonathan Kelley and Reverend Brian Trostle officiating. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. prior to the service.
