Gordon Edward Parsons was born May 4th, 1957 in San Mateo, California. He was the third child of six, born to loving parents Naomi Joy and Glen Nelson Parsons. After battling illness for many years Gordon sadly lost his fight on May 17, 2018. He will be missed tremendously by those blessed enough to have been apart of his life. The family takes solace in the fact that he will finally be at peace.
In his early years Gordon attended Granite Hills Highschool in El Cajon and found great success in water polo. He went on to play water polo at Grossmont college after which he transferrd to San Diego State University. He also attended National University where he gaduated with a Bachelors in computer science. After graduating Gordon was hired on at SAIC as a software engineer where he remained for the majority of his 30 year career.
Aside from water polo, Gordon’s hobbies through out his life also included scuba diving, tinkering, building robots and computers, building model airplanes and remote control planes, which he loved flying with his newphews as often as possible. He cherished attending his children’s sporting events and rooting them on whenever possible, but his favorite thing to do was quite simply spending time with his family.
As a jack of all trades he provided selfless assistance whenever asked. Whether he was needed as a son, father, brother, uncle, or grandfather he was sure to always be there. He never complained no matter the circumstances and certainly was an amazing role model to those lucky enough to have learned from him. His spirit will be carried on by those he impacted most.
Mr Parsons is suvived by his mother, Naomi Parsons; brother, Norman Parsons; sisters, Glenda Parsons-Harris, Nancy McKittrick, Beth Parsons-Higgins; children, Summer and Andrew Kohl (son in law), Barry Stahl, Shainna Stahl; along with many neices, nephews, and grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at the Parsons residence on Sunday, May 27th 2018, from 1:30-4:00pm. If interested in attending please feel free to contact the family.
