David Richard Reed

He was born February 4, 1965 in Escondido, California to Hector Reed and Lucille Dolly

Kaufman. He graduated from Antioch High School in 1983. He attended San Diego State

University where he joined the Alpha Omega chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity, and met Stephanie

Wilson of Camarillo. David and Stephanie were wed in 1993, and together they had twin sons,

Daniel Keith and Clinton Hector. David pursued the field of security design working in

Redwood City, and Martinez before settling back in San Diego.

From the time his sons were 6 years old, David dedicated many seasons to coaching sports.

David was proud to watch and mentor his boys and many of their teammates through wrestling

and football; first with Pop Warner Saturdays, and later with Friday night lights. He was always

cheerfully committed to very early morning ‘weigh ins’ followed by high protein breakfasts

before a Sunday of wrestling matches.

David loved fishing and hunting. He created many memorable weekends with his sons, taking

them out to the desert on shooting and fishing excursions. He also had a talent for tying fishing

flies.

An amazing cook, David enjoyed cooking huge meals for family and friends. He liked to BBQ,

and looked forward to helping with Sigma Pi’s annual SDSU Homecoming tailgate.

David is survived by his wife, Stephanie; sons Daniel and Clinton; goddaughter Analisa

Lazzarini; brothers, Jon Reed, Thom Reed (wife Linda); and sisters Linda Whatley (husband

Ray), and Nancy Perez.

A memorial service for David will be held Monday, November 8th at 10:00am at the Paris

Frederick Mortuary 684 S. Mollison Ave. El Cajon, CA. For those unable to attend in person, a

Zoom will be held, and can be accessed at the following link:

David Richard REED, age 56, of Lakeside, California passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021. David was born February 4, 1965.

David is survived by his wife, Stephanie Reed; his son Daniel Reed; his son Clinton Reed; and his sister Linda Reed Whatley; his brother Jon Reed, his brother Thom Reed and his sister Nancy Reed Perez.

A memorial service for David will be held Monday, November 8, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at El Cajon Mortuary and Cremation Service, 684 South Mollison Ave., El Cajon, CA 92020.
