Charles Edward Watson, son of Ollie and Edyth Watson, was born in Indianapolis, IN. Charlie enlisted in the US Navy, became an aerial photographer serving almost 4 years in Guam. In the early 50’s he settled in San Diego where he and his first wife had two children, Randy and Rhonda, who meant the world to him. During his 34-year career at SDG&E (1952-86) he met Margie, the love of his life, at a SDG&E bowling league. They have been married for 52 wonderful years. In 1971 they bought their home in Tierrasanta. They have enjoyed many years of traveling the US in his RV, camping in the SD deserts & off roading in his dune buggy, boating and water skiing in De Anza Cove and Lake Powell.
Charlie had a great sense of humor and a “heart of service.” He loved helping people and volunteered many hours at Ascension Catholic Church. Many said that “if Charlie can’t fix it, nobody can!” As a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, he generously participated in service projects. He never missed an opportunity to interact with little children; Charlie loved them & they loved him. His nieces and nephews all held a special place in their hearts for “Uncle Charlie.” He enjoyed storytelling, golfing, visiting the casinos and spending time with family & friends. He had a love for Volkswagen “Bugs” and helping others with their vehicles. His “electrical” expertise helped wire many shops in the area. Charlie’s wisdom, common sense and humor were easily shared. His life was full of adventure and service, love of God, church, family and friends. He is survived by his wife Margie, children Randy and Rhonda Widders (Don), and many loving family and friends. He will be missed.
