He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Allie (Kramer) Kearns; his daughter, Sharon (Kearns) Jensen; his sons, Brian Kearns and Kevin Kearns; his stepson, Michael Reinhold; his stepdaughter, Aimeé Reinhold; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; his sister, Burnadene (David) Wold, and many nieces, nephews, and relatives and close friends.
Benny was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Martha, two brothers; Sabin of Texas, and Darold of Delta, CO, and two nieces; Brenda and Diana.
As a proud patriot and U.S. Navy Veteran 22 years, MCPO Kearns received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (Three Awards), Vietnam Service Medal with 3 bronze stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He enjoyed serving for many years on the board for the Dehesa Valley and had a love of Koi fish, Australian and African finches, pheasants, and the beauty of birds and antiques.
As a handyman/jack-of-all-trades, Benny enjoyed helping others and instilled some of his talents in his children , stepchildren, and grandchildren. (A comment from his children: "His 3 children all loved him dearly, and he taught us valuable life and handyman skills. He helped make us who we are today.") He was loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.
A committal service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. with private burial at Miramar National Cemetery.
