Sincere condolences to your family Cecile, may not have been the closest friend but Steves friendship meant something to me and I will never forget it.

Our condolences to the Wong family from our family the Prefontaines. Our community and neighborhood is less without Steve’s support but more for having  had him help build to who we are today, thank you for sharing his love with us.

Although the entire wong family has showed us support and friendship. I want to share a testament to Steve’s character. Being neighbours we share a border to our families and we had a joint venture in some landscaping. Steve being younger, more fit and the handyman he is took the lead role in the yard work. I tried to keep up but he is a work horse. I believe I did alright and my share but a couple times my legs were getting sore and I was sweating. My pride would not let me let Steve down, I know he saw through that and so he said he needed a break. He did not, he did it for me. Selfless and giving. I admire his character and it is ingrained with the whole Wong family. We are lucky to have you in our community and we mourn with you for the great man Steve is. We love you and are door is always open for you, Sincerely The Prefontaines.

Ever since we were 15, I knew Steve as someone who was always smiley, kind, strong, and steady. He took pride in his Hugo Boss shirts, his sleek car, and his ambitious work ethic. Steve’s online alias used to be eminence. From the start, Steve was driven and determined. I have fond memories of us at 16, working out at the YMCA and doing a group Tai Bo class together. 

In our 20s, as he started to relax into his Nikes, crewnecks, and fitted caps, he’d join us at Mykie’s basement gatherings after long workdays. We’d all unwind on a worn-out couch, enjoying cheeseburgers, each other’s company (and probably a little too much alcohol). 

Occasionally, I’d visit Steve’s family home with Cheng, Mykie, etc. I cherished those moments of loud laughter and playful teasing that filled the house.

One night, I sensed a subtle longing in Steve—a feeling that something was missing despite his career flourishing.

When Cici entered his life, and it was clear that Steve had found what he had been searching for. She completed him in a way that brought him true fulfillment.

As the years passed and we drifted apart, I took comfort in knowing that Steve had found his happiness—a loving family, a fulfilling life, and a community to cherish and support. His steady presence was a source of stability for those around him.

Steve, may you find eminence wherever you are resting. I hope to meet you again in a next lifetime. Thank you for teaching me about steadiness and friendship.

Cici, I’m sending you so much love, strength, and grace. Know you don’t walk this path alone.  Max, Logan, and Evi, I can see how much your dad loved you, and now his love has just shifted into a different form. He’ll always be watching over you and you can talk to him anytime.

Most dads grumble through family portrait sessions, but not Steve. His love for his boys was evident in every photograph I took. He laughed, snuggled and genuinely enjoyed making memories with this family through photography.  Always ready with a smile and a lighthearted joke, Steve left a legacy with his beautiful family. I’ll remember him as a wonderful, adventurous, funny, loving, and dedicated father and family man.  Rest in peace Steve.

It was so wonderful to see Steve as a father. We had the privilege of being Steve and CiCi’s neighbour for years, and from the windows of my house, I got to see those casual, behind the scenes moments, the ordinary life moments - Steve playing catch with the kids, carrying a baby Evi around the yard, and lots of lawn mowing while watching the kids play. He was always there for his boys, and it was a privilege to live in such close proximity to him and watch him raise his young family. Love you Steve!

I only met Steven a couple of times throughout the years, our families are connected through Darryl and Linda. We are very sorry to hear of your loss and send our deepest condolences to Cici and boys, Ray and Lily and all the Hoy families. Keeping you all in our thoughts 🙏
