On Monday, March 1, 2010, the family is saddened to announce the death of Peter Batoni .
He was born November 27, 1922, in Florence, Italy. Peter studied architecture in both Florence and Lousanne, Switerzerland. Peter was legendary for his enthusiasm for life. After traveling throughout Europe, Peter came to Canada in 1955 and settled in Edmonton. His pre-cast concrete business was one of the largest in Canada. His greatest passion was designing and building buildings which included many bridges in Alberta, the Coliseum, College Plaza, Renaissance Place plus many other buildings in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Denver, Florida, and Los Angeles.
Peter’s dedication to Italy never wavered, with many of his employees being Italian. In 1969, Peter arranged a round trip flight to bring not only his parents from Italy but also the families of his Italian workers.
Peter is survived by his wife Barbara Batoni, and his children, Joseph Grant Batoni (Monique Batoni) and Francesca D´Agata (Paul D´ Agata) and four grandchildren, Jack and Bianca Batoni and Victor and Madeline D´Agata.
A funeral service for Peter will be held at Santa Maria Goretti Parish,
9110-110 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Father George Puramadathil, CFIC officiating.
