Born in 1920 in Steveville, Alberta, Olive moved with her family to Kitscoty, Alberta at a young age, where she grew up on the family farm with her 5 siblings. After completing high school, she went on to train as a registered nurse in Vegreville. She then moved to Edmonton where she worked as a nurse for a number of years. Olive married James O’Brien July 14, 1956. They were together 52 years until James passed away in 2008.
She is survived by her 3 children, Patrick (Kathryn), Kathy (Mike), Sheila, her grandchildren Sean and Tyler O'Brien, Bud, Katie and Amanda Fox.
Mom loved to garden and doted on her grandchildren. She opened her heart and home to many beloved pets, as well as all the friends we brought home over the years who became part of our family. She was mom to many. Olive was also very involved with her church and The Royal Alexandra Hospital Women's Auxiliary. She spent many years as a volunteer working at the hospital gift shop.
A memorial will be held at a later date.
