SUMNER (née Walton) - Noreen July 6, 1920 - June 2, 2022 Noreen was born in Haswell, County Durham, England to Herbert George Walton and Isabelle Blakey. She was the youngest daughter and the seventh child in a family of nine children.
At the age of 22, Noreen met the love of her life, Harold Edward Sumner in Preston, Lancashire, England and they were married there on March 22, 1943. Noreen and Harold had two children born in England prior to the end of WW II. After the war ended Noreen immigrated to Canada as a War Bride. She arrived on the SS Letitia II at Pier 21 in Halifax on March 4, 1946 and then travelled by train across Canada to reunite with her husband in Edmonton.
Edmonton was where Noreen and Harold raised their family and spent their entire life. They celebrated their 70th anniversary together in 2013. Noreen leaves to mourn her loss, son Keith, daughters Jean (Bob), Shirley (Ralph), Kathryn (Dan), grandchildren Michelle (Ryan), David (Katie), Stephanie and great grandson Burin (son of David and Katie).
Noreen was predeceased by her husband Harold, son Norman, daughter Joyce and grandson Graeme. She was also predeceased by all her siblings Laurie, Rex, Ron, Freddie, Winnie, Eva, Vera and Ella.
