Lois Jackson Payne, age 84, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, went home to be with the Lord on December 9th, 2024. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024 at 2pm in the Chapel at Memories Funeral Home in Edmonton, with Pastor Brian Rice of Cornerstone Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home beginning at 1pm for a visitation prior to the service.
Lois was born on April 23, 1940 in Toxey, Alabama to Leonard and Mary Leola (Roberts) Jackson. The family moved to Mobile, Alabama in 1947, where Lois grew up. She lived much of her adult life in Orange Park, Florida, where she served the Lord faithfully in Berean Baptist Church with Dr. Tom Neal as her pastor. She found much joy in her service for the Lord with many years of playing the piano and serving as bus captain, the nursing home ministry, Children’s Church ministry, and the most important of all, the “soul winner” ministry. It was at Berean Baptist Church where she met her loving husband, Stewart, of 30 years. After moving to Canada where Stewart was born and raised, together they started and worked with several churches. She was a long-time member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where she served as pianist.
Lois is survived by her children, Lisa Pilgrim Hall and Anthony Pilgrim; step-son, Grant (Elizabeth) Payne; grandchildren, Melissa (Charlie) Rodriguez, Melinda (Billy) Ison, and Gary Hall Jr.; great-grandchildren, Alex, Braydon, Trenton, and Gabriel Rodriguez; Jami, Alyssa, Will, and Ciara Ison; and Connor and Zachary Hall. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Mary Leola (Roberts) Jackson; brothers, J.C. Jackson, L.C."Jack" Jackson, W.C. Jackson, Lavelle "Bill" Jackson; sisters, Inez Jackson Mosley, Laverne Jackson Lucas, and Dorothy Jackson Turner; nephews, Larry Turner and Greg Jackson; and nieces, Terri Cahill and Kay Mosley Stanton; brothers-in-law, Jabo Turner, Wallace Mosley, and Ray Lucas; sisters-in-law, Carol Jackson, Mildred Todd Jackson, and Marie Gladden Jackson.
Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Saraland, Alabama. Funeral arrangements are by Memories Funeral Home in Edmonton, Alberta and Radney Funeral Home in Mobile, Alabama.
A Visitation for Lois will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Memories Funeral Home, 13403 St Albert Trail, Edmonton, AB, followed by her funeral service at 2:00 PM.
