Our son, Lawrene Nikko Bautista's short life ended peacefully at our home on September 26, 2022, at age 31. He was born on November 15, 1990. He was a wonderful son and kind brother. Nikko deeply loved and cared for his family and friends. He is survived by his father, Renito Bautista, mother, Herminia Romero, sister, Kyla Bautista, brother, Carl Jan Bautista, and Raki Bautista (puppy).
Nikko was born and grew up in the Philippines. He went to Systems Plus College Foundation in the Computer Science program. While in the Philippines, he loved hanging out with his friends, riding his motorcycle, and caring for his two little siblings. In 2013, he moved to Canada with his family. He briefly worked at Domino Machine as a Machinist before being diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2014. He went through debilitating high doses of chemotherapy. However, with the power of his faith and support from his family, friends, and church, he survived.
Nikko received a 2nd chance at life and spent it worshipping God at Gospel of Chris Christian Ministry. Every day he was either riding his bicycle or walking around the neighborhood. He enjoyed cooking for his family and playing with Raki. Unfortunately, after seven years, an unlikely incidence for his type of lymphoma, his cancer came back. On May 7, 2022, a mass was found in his brain. He fought through chemotherapy and radiation. On August 4, 2022, all the treatments possible were exhausted, and he was sent home for end-of-life care. On September 26, 2022, he passed away. People close to him can attest that his last thought was of his family, as he loved them more than life. He died loved, cared for, and peaceful.
A funeral service for Lawrene will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Hainstock's Funeral Home & Crematorium, 9810 34th Ave, Edmonton, AB T6E6L1.
