It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Mrs. Ivy Lee. She went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2021 at age 85. She was predeceased by her husband, Lung-Charm Lee, and is survived by her children Carol (Henry), Rita (Ron), Henry (Maria), Daisy (Ted), grandchildren Adrienne, Caitlin, Richard, Erin, Ryan and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as two brothers.
Ivy was widowed at a young age and emigrated from Hong Kong to St. Paul, Alberta in 1970 to seek a better future for her four young children. She overcame many adversities in life with perseverance and discipline, traits that she instilled in her children. She quickly learned English and upgraded her education to meet the Canadian standards as an LPN. Ivy worked diligently in healthcare until retiring at age 55. She enjoyed travelling with family and friends to Hawaii, Las Vegas, Florida, Palm Springs, and various countries in Europe, Asia and Australia. Since October 2018, due to deteriorating health, she was cared for at the MacTaggart Retirement Residence. We wish to thank Ivy’s physician, Dr. Richard Hanelt, and the management and staff at MacTaggart for their wonderful care of her, and for the compassion shown to our family in her final days.
We will always remember her as a devoted mother, caring mother-in-law, doting grandmother and tremendous cook. She has taught us a lot about family closeness and will forever be our guiding light. A private ceremony was held to celebrate her life.
