Gregory Paul Simard, of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away on November 22, 2024 following a long battle with Chronic Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
Greg was born in March 1950 to Joe and Aileen Simard in McLennan, Alberta. After graduating from Centennial High School in Coquitlam, he went onto Douglas College where he was hand picked for a one-of-a-kind drafting opportunity. Looking for a career change, Greg was hired into Corrections at the BC Penitentiary before moving to Alberta where he concluded his 33 year career as Deputy Director of Operations at the Edmonton Remand Centre.
In 1974, Greg met Irene at a Corvette Club Banquet; they married and went on to have two children. He is survived by his wife Irene, and daughters Kristin and Shannon.
Greg was an active motorcyclist who also enjoyed refurbishing older models. In retirement he pursued his favourite hobby of building Tall Ship models.
