July 6, 1922 – September 19, 2014
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie Ruth Fraser, age 92, of Edmonton, Alberta on September 19, 2014. Elsie was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Fraser, on August 25, 2003.
Elsie is survived by her four daughters, Beverly Brown of Burlington, ON, Joan (Norm) Sterling of Kanata, ON, Catherine (Bruce) Cruikshank, and Sandra (Jim) Mones of Edmonton, AB. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, John Stearns, Jarrod (Rhonda) Stearns, Kevin (Tammy) Daneliuk, Karen (George) Daneliuk, Matthew (Kim) Cruikshank, Allison Mones, Lindsay Mones-Stratton, and Leanna (Mark) Cruikshank; as well as seven great-grandchildren, Jackson Stearns, Victoria Daneliuk, Jordan Stearns, Jonas Stearns, Sadie Stratton, Daniel Daneliuk, and Elise Hamilton.
Elsie was born in Langley, B.C. and lived part of her life in Vancouver before moving with her husband and family to Edmonton in 1957, where she spent most of the remainder of her life. She will be remembered as a devoted wife to John, and as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who doted on her family.
We wish to express our thanks to the staff at Riverbend Retirement Residence and Grandview Extended Care who treated Elsie with kindness, courtesy and dignity throughout the last few years of her life. We also wish to thank Marcie Van Weenen for her warm support and kind companionship to our mother.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
There will be a private family gathering at a future time to commemorate Elsie's life
