Don “Wayne” MacRae passed away unexpectedly June 3rd, 2021 at the age of 76 at the Grey Nuns hospital in Edmonton, AB, surrounded by his family. Born in Athabasca to Norman and Nina (Hagerty MacRae, Wayne was one of 6 children. He became a passionate world traveller, and as
a seismic consultant, had the opportunity to travel the globe. When he wasn’t working, he was always looking forward to the next trip, preferably to a hot locale with palm trees, a beautiful beach and cold drinks. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Nina as well as his son Jason from his first marriage. He persevered through the tragic loss of his son and led a full and prosperous life, always believing that great times lay ahead for all of us. He enjoyed many years of remarkable adventures and happiness with his treasured wife and best friend, Janet, and was a devoted and supportive father to Jeff (Peggy), and Allison (Shaun), and was an adored and beloved grandpa to Ainsley and Alton. Wayne will be remembered by all who knew him, as a kind, quick-witted and happy family man. He dedicated his time and energy to ensuring the happiness of his loved ones. Supporting them through tough times, and celebrating their accomplishments, he never missed an important occasion in the lives of his family and was a cherished presence at every event. He also leaves to mourn his siblings, Judy (Bob), Janie (Bill), Bob (Debbie), Murray (Mel), Sally (Joe), numerous nieces and nephews and countless other family members and friends. Although there will not be a formal service, Wayne has requested that his ashes be returned to the Athabasca area. As Wayne was an avid believer in the organ donation program, we would ask that in his honor, please consider registering at the Alberta Organ and Tissue Donation Registry site found on MyHealth.Alberta.ca.
