Diane was born in Calgary, Alberta. She met her husband, David Hinchliffe (deceased), while working at a drive-in theater in south Edmonton and was married shortly after. Diane devoted herself to raising their four children, Kathy, David, Robert, and James, as a full-time stay-at-home mom, managing a bustling household with love and creativity.
She was known for her craftiness and artistry, particularly enjoying crochet, crafting unique Christmas decorations, finger puppets, and small stuffed animals. An avid reader, Diane had a passion for the horror genre, with Stephen King and Dean Koontz being her favorite authors. She also enjoyed backyard bird watching, gardening, and other crafts. Later in life, she returned to work as a patient porter at the University of Alberta Hospital, where she enjoyed meeting new people until her retirement.
Diane is survived by her children: Kathy, David, Robert (Debbie), and James (Kim); her grandchildren: Christopher, Samantha, Stephanie, Haleigh, and Zachary; and great-grandchildren: Madison and Gracie
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hainstock's Funeral Home & Crematorium, 9810 34th Ave, Edmonton, AB T6E6L1, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.
