Barbara Joan Matthews

It is with great sadness that the family announces Barb’s passing. She will be dearly missed by her children, Darci and Jason Telicki; husband, Owen; brothers, Pat Slager (Wendy) and Murray Fowler; sister, Maureen Juker; as well as numerous other family and friends. Barb was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Joan Slager.

Barb had many passions in life, mainly her family and friends. She was a fiercely devoted person who made friends wherever she went. She was proud to be an Air Traffic Controller and of her family’s aviation history. She loved to sew, paint, stitch and quilt and her interests much like her quilts were full of color. She loved to ride her Harley, go camping, hike in the mountains, ski, scuba dive, travel, garden, feed the birds and cheer for the Eskimos.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Hainstock’s Funeral Home (9810 – 34 Avenue, Edmonton). A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Grewal, Dr. Seikaly, Dr. K. Chu, Dr. N. Chua, and Dr. P. Amigo for their care and compassion.

Barb donated monthly to the Salvation Army, Hope Mission, Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, U of A Hospital and Amnesty International. Although Barb loved flowers, please consider donating in lieu to one of these organizations or to the Cross Cancer Center.
