Alma was an excellent cook and outstanding baker. Her kitchen was filled with tempting aromas on an ongoing basis where her guests were regularly showered with hospitality and satisfying food. Being a religious soul, she willingly donated her time and energy to the ladies aid groups of her church and their numerous Christian activities.
Her roots were in a farming area of Southern Saskatchewan. In 1955 she moved to Alberta where she settled for a good many years, eventually moving to Kelowna in her senior years. After her husband, Jacob passed, she returned to Edmonton to be closer to her children.
She leaves behind her daughters Sharon (David) Maxwell, Shirley Long, and her son-in-law Roland Dufton; Grandchildren Michael (Jessica) Maxwell, Steven (Laurie) Maxwell, Dennis Long and great-grandchildren Camilla and Sean Maxwell.
Alma was predeceased by her husband Jacob Mann, her daughter Carol Jacqueline Dufton, her son-in-law Bob Long and her 10 siblings: Dora, Rose, Martha, Vic, John, Bert, Bill, George, Harold and Ed as well as numerous other family members.
Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the compassionate care that Alma received at Shepherd’s Care Millwood’s Nursing Home.
As per Alma’s wishes, she has been cremated and will be placed in a niche alongside her husband at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Edmonton, AB. A private family celebration of life will follow at a future date.
