Phillip “Phil” Don Lamb was born on January 18th, 1956 to Henry and Sue Lamb. Following a life of love, laughter, and friendships and some bumps along the way, Phil left this world on October 1st, 2023. In 1974, Phil graduated from Bristow High School, a Bristow Pirate through and through. He enjoyed so many rewarding, fun filled friendships and experiences including everything from academics to athletics but let’s not forget the shenanigans. Several of those friendships still strong to this day.
After a brief time at NSU in Tahlequah, Phil went to work for his Uncle David McConaghie at his dental lab while living in Oklahoma City. The night before he was to move back to Grove, he and Denise Combest met over a game of foosball at the Blue Onion. This night was the start of the next 47 years.
Phil and Denise were married on April 22nd, 1978 in Duncan, Ok with his father Rev. Henry C. Lamb officiating. Their first child, Jared Lamb, was born in 1981. The Lamb’s moved to Grove, OK in 1984 for Phil to build the Baptist Retirement Village. In 1985, Lindsay Dawn was born.
The family moved to Edmond, OK in 1989. Phil’s skill and talent as a Master Carpenter grew during his many years with Contemporary Cabinets, a job that utilized his skill set throughout the United States. During his travels for work he always looked for an opportunity to play a new course. As his career wound down, he was able to spend more time on the golf course and with his family as it continued to grow as they were blessed with each new grandchild. His family’s time with him was cut short by illness on October 1st, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sue Lamb. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Denise Lamb; his son Jared Lamb and partner Amber Anthony; his daughter Lindsay Van Wechel and husband Zach; and 9 adored grandchildren, Skylar, Isaac, Riley, Addison, Locke, Zoey, Macey, Halie Rae, and Carlie Dawn. His sister Melissa Long and husband Preston; Nephews Clay Spicer and Paul Houston Farmer; and his constant companions for the last three years, Duke and Daisy.
And they all went to the seashore…
A memorial service celebrating the life of Phil will be held on Thursday, October 5th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Baggerley Funeral Home Chapel, 930 S. Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034.
