John Newsom was born April 30, 1964 to Elmer Newsom, Jr. and Sheri Newsom in Edmond. John graduated Edmond Memorial High School in 1983. He and his wife Jana were high school sweethearts and married in 1987. He was a loving father to JJ and Jamie. John had a long career with Governair and later went on to start his own business, 4 Js Crack and Seal, LLC. He, among many things, was a talented craftsman, an avid sportsman, a car enthusiast, and an exceptionally devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was a member of the Memorial Road Church of Christ. John Newsom was a friend to everyone he met and was always eager to lend a helping hand. He was a man who loved God; friends and family will miss him saying grace at the meals we enjoyed together. John kept in focus the importance of family and loved ones. To those fortunate enough to know him best he was hard-working, generous, loyal, funny, and had an ornery streak that brought humor to us all. John is survived by his wife, Jana, their two daughters, JJ and Jamie; his parents, JR and Sheri; his maternal grandmother Arvegia Barber; his sister Angela Tackett, her husband Kevin, their three daughters, Terra, Ashley, and MacKenzie; his brother Joe, his wife Emily, their children Wyatt and Lucy; his mother-in-law Kaye McMillan, his sister-in-law Robin Waugh and her husband Dan, their children DeeAnn, Weston, and Dawson; many aunts and uncles, great- nephews, and numerous members of his large family and friends. He will be greatly missed and thought of often.
