James Delmer Vaught passed from this earthly world July 9, 2016. Jim was born in Bonham, Texas on November 23, 1935. He grew up in Bonham and graduated from high school there. Jim attended The University of Oklahoma and earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters of Petroleum Engineering.
He married his wife of 59 years, Annette Nelson, in 1957. Jim worked at PT Stanvac in Sumatra Indonesia from 1959 to 1965. He and his family returned to the United States and worked for a major oil company in Andrews, TX, then he and his family moved to Ada, OK, where he worked for IU International Oil & Gas, Inc., as Vice President of Operations through 1976. He then formed Vaught & Baker Engineering, which later became Vaught and Associates, which he managed until his death.
His interests were travel, University of Oklahoma football and basketball, Thunder basketball, and golf, which he played most of his life. He loved all animals, especially his pet labs.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn Annette Vaught, daughters Cheryl Annette Vaught and Suzanne Vaught, brothers, Bob Vaught and his wife Peggy Vaught, Mike Vaught and his wife Linda Vaught, sister-in-laws, Norma Rae Walters, Mary K.N. Thaller and her husband Francis “Bud” Thaller, Martha Val-Gallas and her husband Dr. John Val-Gallas, nieces Melissa Walters, Camille Landry, Cyndy Walters, Lecia Malone and Kristel Richards and nephew John Vaught. Jim was preceded in death by his parents James Delmer Vaught and Olivia Clede Vaught and sister-in-law Becky Thompson.
Jim was loving, kind and generous to every person he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church, 201 E. 2nd Street, Edmond, OK 73034 on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 10:30 am. The guestbook will be available for signing at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 S. Broadway, Edmond, OK 73034, from noon to 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 14, 2016.
