Robert Donald Smale

Robert Donald Smale Sr “Pop”, 82, of East Stroudsburg, passed away unexpectedly on June 29, 2019 at the Lehigh Valley-Pocono Hospital. He was the loving husband of Beverly (McCarthy) Smale with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

Born November 29, 1936 he was a son of the late Earl and Alberta (Hoffner) Smale.

Robert served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1959. He was a lifetime resident of East Stroudsburg. His stories and jokes were enjoyed by everyone including his family, who were everything to him. There was never a time that Pop wasn’t there when you needed him. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. Roberts’s most prized possession was his little dog Misty. He spent his working years at the International Boiler works and Crosly Trailers. He loved hunting and fishing but above most he loved his family.

Including his beloved wife Beverly, those left to cherish his memory include children; Robert Smale Jr., Richard Smale and his wife Lucille, Renee Shoobe and her husband Brian and Regina Schoener: grandchildren; Laura Krajca, Savannah Shanley, Sarah Shoobe, Amanda Oddy, Jessica Smale, Anthony Crawn, Robert Herbst and his wife Lisa, Matthew Herbst, Kevin Gallagher : great grandchildren; Aiden, Rileigh, Isabella, Isabelle ,Aubri, Noah, Grace, Jasmine, Jalisa, Jordan, Arianna, Lola, and Marshall .

He has been preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Jennifer Martinez.

A prayer service will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday July 6, 2019 at the Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home Inc. 27 Washington St. East Stroudsburg, where the family will receive family and friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Prospect Cemetery.
