John Lewis Parks, 84, of East Ridge went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Signature Health Care in South Pittsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents Gale Dewey Parks and Nell Isabella Carter Parks, his sisters June Starnes and Betty Lee Parks Anderson; his brothers Bob and Paul Parks. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Chattanooga. Mr. Parks was a contractor that developed and built several houses and rental properties in the Chattanooga area. While attending Central High School (Class of 1953), Mr. Parks was named the top High School trumpet player in the State of Tennessee.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Bennett of East Ridge and her husband Tony; Lara Pruitt of East Ridge and her husband Roger; and three grandchildren, Johnathan Swords, Elisabeth Bennett, and Samantha Bennett all of East Ridge.
The family will receive friends on Thursday June 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel. The funeral will immediately follow with Pastor Ronnie Case officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Cure Alzheimer's Fund, 34 Washington Street, Suite 310, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
