Hilda graduated from Laboratory High School of Indiana State Teachers College in 1944, and attended Indiana State for one year. She worked for the Veteran’s Administration for ten years during WWII.
In 1954, she married Richard Schults, an electrical engineer, in the appliance industry. They had four children. After the children were in school, she returned to school and graduated from Lake Michigan College, in St. Joseph, Michigan, with an Associate Degree in Nursing. She worked at Cookeville General Hospital, in Cookeville, TN., and Riverside Medical Center, in Kankakee, IL, until the family moved to Ringgold, GA., in 1985.
Hilda was a faithful member of OLPH Catholic Church. She volunteered for several organizations, at the church, and at Hutcheson Medical Center for 28 years.
Preceding Hilda in death, besides her parents, are her husband of 63 years, Richard “Dick” Schults, son, Thomas Joseph Schults, sister, Virginia Martine Green (and her husband, William) and infant sister, Alberta Mae Willen.
Left behind to cherish Hilda’s memory are her three wonderful daughters, Cecilia Marie Witt (Mitchel), Kathleen Ann Bramlet (Dale), Louise Regina Schults, and daughter-in-law, Josie Tigtig Schults, grandchildren, Christina Ann Moser (Cliff), Matthew Eric Witt (Ashley), Carrie Ann Bramlet, Kelly Marie Bramlet, Kristen Nicole Bramlet, Elisabeth Caitlin Schults, and Eric Thomas Schults, great-grandchildren, Caleb Wayne, Celia Ann, Clint Mitchel, Carch David Moser, and Avery Graham Witt, nieces are Diane Thomas, Norma Commorato, Susan Sims, and a nephew, David William Green
A Funeral Mass celebrating Hilda’s life will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Friday December 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. James Vick officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Hall at OLPH. She will be reunited with her husband, Richard in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery following the service.
