Edith Estelle Adams Ellis, 80, of Chattanooga died Friday, February 21, 2014. She was born January 1, 1934 in New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter of the late Loyal Gardner Adams, Sr. and Margaret Lee Watson Adams. She was preceded in death by a grandson Sean Ellis. Mrs. Ellis was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening. She enjoyed painting and she was known for her singing. Mrs. Ellis was a very vivacious person, with a natural generosity that was evident by her giving spirit and willingness to help anyone with anything. She always took pride in her appearance. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy she was especially close to Taylor, because she was able to keep him when he was young.
Survivors include her children, Fred Ellis, Jr., Elaine Ellis Siniard and husband Mark, Doug Ellis and wife Sherry; grandchildren Matthew (Erica) Vandegriff, Lee (Casey) Smith, Blaine (Shelby) Vandegriff, Caitlin Ellis and Brennan Ellis; great grandchildren Taylor, Anna, Lila, Jackson, Olivia, Reece, Brock and Roman; sister Betty Lyle, brothers Loyal Gardner Adams, Jr. and Charles E. Adams; many nieces and nephews; many grand cats and dogs.
Memorial services will be held Friday, February 28, 2014 at 3:00 pm in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Reverend Matthew Vandegriff officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-3 Friday.
